Gap has lost the plot!

I saw this new logo a few days ago and I couldn't believe my eyes.. thought it was some practical joke or advertising stunt. Apparently that's what the company is claiming it was after consumers' complaints started flooding in, but it all seems a bit too convenient if you ask me.. The retailer has kind of lost its way in the last few years, which is a shame considering it is such an iconic brand - but this is the thing.. their logo was so iconic as well, so how their marketing dept thought it was a brilliant idea to ruin the greatest thing about the brand, is beyond me. This quote from online branding site brandchannel basically sums it up, "Gap has dropped its iconic logo in favor of something that looks like it cost $17 from an old Microsoft Word clipart gallery."
